The Chief Information Officer shall bid for such equipment and software and shall allow educational entities as defined in section 79-1332 to participate in such statewide leasing or purchasing contracts.

Educational entity means a school district, a private, denominational, or parochial school, an educational service unit, a community college, a state college, the University of Nebraska, or a nonprofit private postsecondary educational institution
The Chief Information Officer developed two major Requests for Proposal to carry out section 79-1233.
RFP1752Z1(for WAN services, Internet access, and Edge devices)
The State master purchase contract for edge devices also included ‘Other networking equipment’ which allows any Education Entity to purchase from this contract. In addition, any municipal, county, state, or political subdivision operating within Nebraska may also purchase off of this State contract.
These entities are eligible for substantial discounts off of Cisco Equipment list prices provided that equipment is shipped directly from Cisco to the ordering entity:

Steps to placing an order for equipment or service by Nebraska education entities
If you are an administrator or purchasing agent for one of these education entities, you should:

Review the text of the appropriate contract(s);
- Download and Print the CIO’s Service Notification Form;
- Contact the respective vendor for technical information, if necessary;
- Fill out, sign, and fax or e-mail the completed Service Notification Form to the Office of the CIO;
- Contact the respective vendor to complete the purchasing process.
